Who, me?
Katie grew up in a house on top of a hill in Grass Valley, CA with five acres and endless opportunities to observe, wander and wonder. She has been creating for as long as she can remember in the form of writing, drawing, painting, singing, dancing, acting, and more recently, playing the ukulele and performing spoken word.
Katie joined Folsom Arts Association in 2008, and shared her original drawings in the 2009 art studio tour. She participated in group shows at Gallery at 48 Natoma, and Bank of America Gallery at Harris Center for The Arts. Her solo exhibits were featured at L Frank James Gallery in Roseville, Second Saturday in Sacramento, and Art and Soul Gallery at Oak Hills Church in Folsom.
In 2011, Katie helped start an artist community called Open Studio with the goal of providing creative time and space for artists of all types. The relationships started there continue to unfold and contribute to new inspirations and community projects including a large scale collaborative art installation made from recycled materials called “Redemption Garden”, which was exhibited at the SMUD gallery, and later donated to St. John’s Shelter Program for Women and Children. More recently, she joined the community leadership team for planning Intersections arts and faith gatherings intended to connect, equip and encourage artists of faith in the Sacramento region.
Katie teaches various art workshops and is passionate about giving others permission and freedom to play in creativity. She has also created live paintings during church gatherings at Lakeside Church and Oak Hills Church and leading music with her ukulele at Village Church.

Artist's Statement
Katie strongly believes that creativity is inherent in everyone; a way of being that we each have wired into our being; something to be nurtured and developed over time. She has found her purpose in using art to care for others; encouraging fellow humans to take creative courageous steps to "see and do" in new and unique ways.
